Hugh Baird College students were given an opportunity to hear all about the exciting new roles that will soon be arriving at Anfield Stadium thanks to the impressive Main Stand development.
Liverpool Football Club recently announced the creation of more than 1000 new matchday opportunities in preparation for next season and is touring local colleges to meet with young people interested in careers in hospitality and catering Paul Cuttill, General Manager for Hospitality, Tourism and Events at the home of the Reds, spoke to Hospitality and Catering, Travel and Tourism and Floristry students about opportunities that will be available for the 16/17 Premier League season.
After showcasing the plans, Paul, who has worked at Liverpool Football Club for 15 years, said:
“The Main Stand expansion gives us a fantastic opportunity to help local students to explore their interests in hospitality and catering, through the many different matchday roles that will be available. Making the connection between what’s learnt in the classroom and how that applies to working in a Stadium is a great way for them to learn about the industry”.
The careers presentations are part of a series of sessions delivered by the Club’s matchday team, to give local students an insight into what it takes to make it in the industry.
Mark Amesbury, Curriculum Co-ordinator for the L20 Hotel School Hospitality curriculum at Hugh Baird College said:
“I would like to thank the team from Liverpool Football Club for coming to meet with our learners today. The benefits of the College working with LFC are twofold. The students had the opportunity to hear direct from industry professionals and gain a valuable insight into the skills needed to work in hospitality and catering at a world renowned football Club.”
Students also took part in a Q&A with Executive Head Chef Chris Marshall and Recruitment & Retention Manager Emma Hulme, as well as learning all about the new fan facilities that will be available at the Stadium.
The interactive sessions were also an opportunity to find out about how to apply for the new roles when the stand becomes one of the largest in European football.
Liverpool FC’s expanded Main Stand is set to comprise three tiers, a widened player tunnel, new team benches, media platform, wheelchair viewing positions and state-of-the-art facilities for fans inside.
